I was banned from the "Neurodiversity Ning"

Kevin Leitch, parent of a daughter with Autistic Disorder created the "Neurodiversity Ning." Camille Clark, Autistic adult and parent of two Autistic adults, is one of the moderators of the "Neurodiversity Ning." Anne Bevington, parent of adult Autistic son, reposted material from Autism Speaks Social Network Ning on to "Neurodiversity Ning." I was banned for having suspicions of Amanda Bagg's Autistic Disorder diagnosis. Kassiane Sibbley, adult with Rhett Syndrome and PDD-NOS, posted replies full of profanity and personal attacks.

"You have been banned from Neurodiversity

Sorry, AutisticAdvocacy (all), you can not access Neurodiversity as you have been banned. If you think you've been banned in error, you can contact the administrator."

"I'm sorry, I don't know who any of you are; but I have known Katie ever since we were little. She is a sweet girl who was not trying to harm anyone. She may have said something that you disagree with, but it is inapropriate that you should act like children. By behaving rudely to Katie, and calling her names, you are acting like children in high school who are bullying someone."

~ Anna, Katie's 16-year-old neurologically typical and only friend

The "Neurodiversity Ning is very biased and members join by invitation only. Members of the "Neurodiversity Ning" exclude everyone whom does not share in their beliefs.

"Neurodiversity Ning" sign in:

"The Neurodiversity Network is for those who are neurologically 'different' - autistic, bipolar, schizophrenic, tourettes, OCD etc etc."

Interesting... Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Tourette Syndrome, and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder are part of "different wiring."

  1. Wow, I'm really sorry to hear that you were banned. That's really a shame.

  2. Well, I got banned over at Aspies for Freedom. So don't feel too bad.

I don't go for banning much myself. I may not like all the people who comment on my writing but I do not ban them.

I have no idea what the Amanda Baggs story is, but it does seem there are different opinions.

  3. I thought the whole banning was unfair.

  4. I've been banned from almost every Neurodiverse "place." Welcome to the club, dear!

There's actually another fringe movement for these disorders: The Icarus Project...just as loony and rude as ND in my opinion.

Oh, and Kassiane Sibley claims to have Rett's, so I don't believe her, either. Here is some info on Rett's:

  5. Ha.

If she is a Rett girl, I'm the goddamn queen of England.

Rett's is a debilitating disorder and you can't do freakin' gymnastics and crap when you have it. Just because you have a mutation that is found in those who have a disorder, it does not mean you HAVE the damn disorder.

She claims to have an IQ of something outrageous like 176 [or has claimed in the past, which is silly, since the children's scales don't go that high, even with the added adjustments... but I digress.], but can't grasp the simple stuff.

    Like, oh:

    RETT'S- "mental retardation"
How does that match up with genius?
I don't know, you tell me.

She's a god damn medical miracle, that one!

RETT'S- "Another symptom, apraxia — the inability to perform motor functions — is perhaps the most severely disabling feature of Rett syndrome"

Sure sounds like a good set up for a gymnast, 'ey?
    A "nationally renowned" gymnast.

[info taken from above .gov link, btw]

    Bunch of crap.
If this were true, there would at least be a case study on her somewhere.

    Where's the case study?
    Where's the info? The spotlight?
The excitement in the medical community because HEY there's a new form of Rett's and "maybe, just maybe, there's a little more room for hope"?

    I don't see it.

    Because she's full of shit.

And that "paper" she prattles on about?
    Does. Not. Exist.

    Amanda Baggs Controversy investigatory report.
    http://amandabaggscontroversy.blogspot.com/

A rather compelling, astounding, professionally written, thorough report. Important, very.

I was, expecting, from the report, your usual gossip. It is academic in nature. Very professional and objective. Focused, very, on the central issues.

What a myriad of issues, from all directions, against Amanda Baggs.

I see an update there. Photo copies of the 1994-1998 witness statements. Photo copies of emails in original form.

This is as true as you can get.
